Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 13 runs on DL/S method in the final of the women’s T20 series. After the rain prevented the match between Nepal and Hong Kong, the winner was announced according to the Duckworth-Lewis method.
After losing the toss and batting, Hong Kong gave Nepal a target of 102 runs. Hong Kong managed to score 101 runs after losing 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Coming into batting, Nepal could play only 5.3 overs. The game was canceled due to persistent. Nepal scored 37 runs by losing 1 wicket in 5.3 overs and Nepal managed to win by 13 runs using the Duckworth-Lewis method.
Yashmin Daswani scored 11, Ka Ying Chan scored 29, Marina Antonia scored 19 and Shanjin Shahzad scored 14 unbeaten runs for Hong Kong who batted first. On the bowling side, Khushi Dangol took 3 wickets and Ashmina Karmacharya and Kavita Joshi took 1/1 wicket for Nepal.
Similarly, Sita Ranamar scored 13 runs and Indu Barma scored 19 runs from Nepal. Kajal Shrestha was out LBW for zero runs.
Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 6 wickets in the first match of the group stage and Kuwait by 34 runs in the second match and lost to Malaysia by 6 wickets in the last match. Similarly, Hong Kong lost to Nepal by 6 wickets in the first match, beat Malaysia by 10 wickets in the second match and beat Kuwait by 16 runs in the third match. Nepal and Hong Kong entered the finals based on run rate.
Along with host Malaysia, Nepal, Hong Kong and Kuwait participated in the women’s T-20 series. Nepal played this series as a preparation for the ICC Women’s T-20 World Cup Asia Qualifier to be held in Malaysia from August 31st.
