Nepal faced an early exit from the U-19 Asia Cup on Tuesday, suffering a comprehensive defeat against India by a margin of 10 wickets in a match that lasted just 29.2 overs. The game took place at the ICC Academy Oval-2 in Dubai, with India’s bowlers dominating the Nepalese batting lineup.
Batting first after losing the toss, Nepal struggled to put up a competitive total and managed only 52 runs in 22.1 overs, losing all wickets in the process. The Indian bowlers ensured that they achieved the target of 53 runs in just 7.1 overs without losing a wicket, securing a convincing win.
India’s opening pair, Adarsh Singh (13 not out) and Arshin Kulkarni (43 not out), cruised through the chase, displaying a dominant performance. Raj Limbani, the Indian bowler, played a significant role in restricting Nepal to a low total, claiming seven wickets for just 13 runs in 9.1 overs.
Nepal’s innings faced early setbacks, losing wickets consistently, and their struggle continued as they failed to form substantial partnerships. With the dismissal of key players like Gulshan Jha, Arjun Kumal, and Dev Khanal, Nepal found themselves in deep trouble at 21 runs for the loss of six wickets in the 10th over.
The result means that Nepal concludes their U-19 Asia Cup campaign without a victory, having previously suffered defeats against Afghanistan and Pakistan. The early exit is a disappointment for the Nepalese team, and they will now look to regroup and learn from the experience for upcoming ICC Mes U19 World Cup in South Africa starting next month.
