Nepal showcased their dominance in the onging Tri Nation T20 series, securing a resounding victory against Hong Kong China by six wickets at the Mulpani International Cricket Ground. The match, held on Thursday, saw Nepal chase down a target of 95 runs set by Hong Kong China, losing only four wickets in the process.
Nepal’s opening batsman, Kushal Bhurtel, was dismissed for just 8 runs, but his partner, Asif Sheikh, played a crucial role, contributing 42 runs with 6 boundaries in 34 balls. Hong Kong China bowler, Ehsan Khan, proved to be a threat, taking the wickets of both Kushal Malla and Sandeep Jora, who scored just 1 and 3 runs, respectively. Khan also removed opener Kushal Bhurtel.
Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel led the charge for Nepal, remaining unbeaten with 25 runs, while Gulsan Jha also stayed not out with 14 runs. Rohit’s knock featured 1 four and 2 sixes in just 20 balls, while Gulsan hit 2 sixes in just 5 balls.
In the bowling department, Ehsan Khan was the standout performer for Hong Kong, taking 3 crucial wickets.
The match started with Nepal winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Hong Kong, who batted first, struggled to score, managing only 94 runs with three balls remaining in their innings.
Yasim Murtaza was the top scorer for Hong Kong, contributing 36 runs, including 2 fours and 1 six off 36 balls. Zeeshan Ali added 17 runs, but the rest of the Hong Kong batsmen failed to reach double figures.
Remarkably, a total of 9 batters, including the top five, were unable to score in double figures. Nepal’s Karan KC played a pivotal role by taking 4 wickets, including dismissing Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan on the very first ball. Karan’s exceptional performance restricted Hong Kong to just 20 runs for the loss of 4 wickets during the powerplay.
In addition to Karan KC’s outstanding performance, Sompal Kami and Abhinas Bohra contributed by taking 2 wickets each.
Nepal’s impressive run in the T20 series continued, following their previous victory against the UAE by 7 wickets. Their upcoming fixtures include a clash with Hong Kong on Saturday and a match against the UAE on Monday. The final match will feature the top two teams in the points table, promising an exciting conclusion to the series.
