Day 2 of the Prime Minister’s Cup Women’s National Cricket Tournament
Match 5: Bagmati vs Koshi
In a riveting clash, Koshi emerged victorious over Bagmati by 8 wickets, thanks to the stellar all-round performance of young dynamo Apsari Begum.
Bagmati, batting first after losing the toss, managed to score 87 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Yasoda Bista’s impressive 41 runs and a crucial partnership between Yasoda and Ashmina Karmacharya helped Bagmati recover from a shaky start. However, Koshi’s Apsari Begum and Sabnam Rai picked up crucial wickets.
Chasing the target of 88 runs, Koshi achieved victory with only 2 wickets down in 18.1 overs. Apsari Begum’s brilliant 41 runs and Kajol Shrestha’s unbeaten 41 runs led Koshi to success. Apsari’s all-round excellence earned her the Player of the Match award.

Match 6: Gandaki vs Karnali
Gandaki Pradesh showcased an impressive batting display, securing a convincing 44-run victory against Karnali Pradesh.
Batting first, Gandaki posted a challenging total of 142 runs. Anjali Vishwakarma and Jyotsnika Marasini played standout innings, scoring 51 and 50 runs, respectively. Karnali, in response, could only manage 97 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Gauri Bohra top-scored with 26 runs. Gandaki’s Rachna Chaudhary and Jyotsnika Marasini played vital roles, taking crucial wickets.
Jyotsnika Marasini, for her impactful all-around performance, was named the Player of the Match, becoming one of the few players to achieve a half-century in the tournament.

Match 7: Madhesh vs APF
Madhesh faced a tough day against APF as they were bundled out for just 40 runs. APF, in a dominant display, chased down the target in 5.5 overs without losing a wicket.
In a one-sided affair, Madhesh won the toss but found themselves struggling against a formidable APF side. Batting first, Madhesh posted a meager total of 40 runs. While Pratima Shah showed some resilience with a top score of 15 runs, APF’s bowlers dominated the innings. Captain Sita led from the front, taking an impressive 3 wickets while conceding just 2 runs in her 2.2 overs. APF’s entire bowling unit performed economically, limiting Madhesh to a low total.
Chasing the target, APF cruised to victory in just 5.5 overs without losing a wicket. Sita continued her exceptional performance, playing an aggressive inning of 19 not out off 9 balls. Her dominant display with both bat and ball rightfully earned her the Player of the Match award.

Match 8: Lumbini vs Sudur Paschim
Lumbini Province Women elected to bat but could only manage a below-par score of 71 runs. Sudur Paschim chased the target comfortably, securing victory with ease.

Saraswati top-scored with 19 runs, but Sudur Paschim’s Lakshmi emerged as the star bowler, picking up 2 wickets for just 5 runs in her 4 overs.
In the chase, Sudur Paschim comfortably reached the target in 9.5 overs, losing only 1 wicket in the process. Kabita played an aggressive inning of 24 not out off just 12 balls, sealing the victory for Sudur Paschim. Lakshmi Saud’s brilliant bowling performance earned her the Player of the Match award for her crucial contributions in restricting Lumbini to a modest total.
