In a groundbreaking decision, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced that the upcoming Prime Minister’s Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament will be held in Bhairahawa and Kathmandu, marking the first time the prestigious event will take place outside Kathmandu.
The tournament, slated to commence in the first week of January 2080, will witness participation from 10 teams, including 7 provincial teams and 3 departmental teams. Organized on a round-robin league basis, this year’s Prime Minister’s Cup aims to enhance the inclusivity and geographical reach of the competition.
The decision to host matches in Bhairahawa reflects CAN’s commitment to promoting cricket beyond the capital and providing cricket enthusiasts across different regions with an opportunity to witness top-notch cricket action.
In a letter addressed to the Rupandehi District Cricket Association, CAN expressed its intention to collaborate in preparing the playing fields for the league stage matches. CAN plans to host around Eight to Ten Group stages match at Sidhhartha Cricket Stadium, Bhairahawa.
