Departmental Sides Dominate in Kathmandu, Sudurpaschim Victorious in Bhairahawa

In the third day of the PM Cup 2024, there was exhilarating performances as Tribhuwan Army Club (TAC), Armed Police Force Club (APF), and SudurPaschim Province emerged victorious in their respective matches.

Match 6: Tribhuwan Army Club vs Madhesh Province
TAC 320/10 (50 over) vs MP 194/10 (48.4 over)

In a clash against Madhesh Province, Tribhuwan Army Club put on a stellar performance to secure a resounding victory by 126 runs. Winning the toss and opting to field first, Madhesh faced a daunting TAC batting lineup. TAC started strongly, not losing a single wicket in the initial 10 overs. However, they faced a brief hiccup between overs 10 to 21, losing four wickets with just 102 runs on the board. A remarkable partnership of 132 runs between Kushal Malla and captain Binod Bhandari shifted the momentum back in TAC’s favor. Bhandari’s extraordinary knock of 113 runs off 93 balls, marked by 9 fours and 6 sixes, propelled TAC to a formidable total of 320 runs. Ranjit Kumar shone for Madhesh with the ball, taking 5 wickets for 41 runs in 9 overs. Despite a valiant effort, Madhesh faltered in their chase, bundling out for 194 runs. Pawan Sarraf’s 65-run inning was a lone highlight as Shahab Alam’s four-wicket haul secured the win for TAC. Unsurprisingly, Binod Bhandari was named the Man of the Match for his exceptional performance.

Match 7: Koshi Province vs Armed Police Force Club
KP 135/10 (44.3 over) vs APFC 136/4 (19.1 over)
Armed Police Force Club exhibited a dominant display against Koshi Province, winning the match by 6 wickets. Opting to field after winning the toss, APF restricted Koshi to a mere 135 runs. Firdosh Ansari top-scored with 55 runs, while Rohit Paudel and Abinash Bohara impressed with three wickets each. In response, APF lost an early wicket but bounced back with an explosive knock from captain Rohit Paudel, who scored 80 runs off 53 balls. APF chased down the target in just 19.1 overs, securing a comfortable victory. None of the Koshi bowlers could make a significant impact as Paudel’s all-round performance earned him the Man of the Match award.

Match 8: Lumbini Province vs SudurPaschim Province
LP 158/10 (48.4 over) vs SPP 159/5 (29.3 over)
SudurPaschim Province emerged victorious against Lumbini Province in a match where they showcased a balanced performance with both bat and ball. Choosing to field first, SudurPaschim bowlers restricted Lumbini to 158 runs. Narayan Joshi starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets, while BhojRaj Bhatta and Nared Saud contributed with 2 wickets each. In the chase, SudurPaschim started well and comfortably reached the target in 29.3 overs with 5 wickets down. Sher Malla’s unbeaten 42 runs played a crucial role in steering his team to victory. Despite Avishek Gautam’s three-wicket haul for Lumbini, SudurPaschim’s low target proved manageable. Narayan Joshi’s all-round performance earned him the Man of the Match recognition.

As the PM Cup 2024 progresses, these thrilling encounters promise more excitement and skillful cricket displays in the days to come. The anticipation builds for the next set of matches scheduled for tomorrow, featuring Karnali Province vs SudurPaschim Province, Koshi Province vs Nepal Police Club, and Bagmati Province vs Madhesh Province. Cricket enthusiasts can look forward to another day of intense competition and standout performances as teams vie for supremacy in this prestigious tournament.
