In the second day of the prestigious PM Cup, Armed Police Force Club (APF) and Karnali Province emerged victorious in their respective matches. The clash between APF and Bagmati Province, as well as the battle between Gandaki Province and Karnali Province, provided some unforgettable moments.
Match No. 4: APF vs Bagmati Province
Bagmati Province won the toss and elected to field first, putting APF under pressure with an impressive bowling display in the initial overs. At 30.2 overs, APF found themselves at 129/7. However, the tide turned when Sundeep Jora played a sensational innings, single-handedly guiding his team to a competitive score. Jora scored a remarkable 112 runs from 117 balls, bringing APF’s total to a respectable figure. Surya Tamang shone with the ball for Bagmati, picking up 3 wickets, while Pratish GC and Rijan Dhakal contributed with 2 wickets each. In reply, Bagmati started well with a 56-run partnership between Captain Rit Gautam and Ashutosh Ghiraiya. Karnali Province won the toss and elected to field in the second encounter of the day. Karnali’s bowlers dominated from the start, restricting Gandaki to a mere 122 runs in 45 overs. Dinesh Adhikari bowled an exceptional spell, conceding just 9 runs in his 8 overs, taking 2 wickets, and delivering 4 maiden overs. This outstanding performance earned Adhikari the “Man of the Match” award. Chasing a modest target, Karnali faced some early hiccups, losing 2 wickets within the first 13 overs. However, a crucial 80-run partnership between Bipin Shahi and Himanshu Shahi steadied the ship, guiding Karnali to a comfortable 7-wicket victory. Himanshu Shahi top-scored for Karnali with 53 runs in 71 balls. Ankit Neupane took 2 wickets for Gandaki, but the bowlers struggled to defend the low total.
