The schedule for the upcoming Asian Games has been reshuffled following Bahrain’s withdrawal from the competition. Nepal’s cricket team, initially slated to face Japan and Colombia, now finds themselves pitted against Mongolia and Maldives in Group A.
This alteration comes as a consequence of Bahrain’s decision to pull out of the competition, prompting organizers to reconfigure the groups.
The revised groupings for cricket in the Asian Games are as follows:
Group A: Nepal, Mongolia, Maldives
Group B: Japan, Cambodia, Hong Kong China
Group C: Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand
Afghanistan, a full member nation which was inititally scheduled to play group stages has secured a direct entry into the quarterfinals. This strategic adjustment aims to ensure competitive balance in the wake of Bahrain’s withdrawal.
The winners of each group will earn their ticket to the quarterfinals, where they will lock horns with five full-member cricketing nations.
